Nick McDonald Band
The Nick McDonald Band was formed way back in August 2005. They perform funky original songs written by Arboretum’s own Nick McDonald. NMB’s arrangements are fluid and the band’s fondness of spontaneity keeps the live sets exciting and new.
The NMB is Nick McDonald on Keyboard & Vocals, Danny Hughes on Lead Guitar, Chris Macdonald on Rhythm Guitar, Lester Troughton on Bass and Tom Dempsey on Percussion/Drums. In addition to the solid core five they often guest a host of talented local musicians and vocalists – many of which can be heard on the debut album ‘Stand In Line’ currently available via their website and soon to be made available in actual and new fangled digital forms from the new Arboretum Shop.

Team Hughes feature the one, the only Danny Hughes on vocals & acoustic/electric guitars, Elliott Lewis on electric guitar, Darren Fretwell on double bass/electric bass, Mark ‘Daddyo’ Strawbridge on harmonica/guitar and Jason Alum on drums.
Their sound varies from upbeat latin rockabilly to slide guitar funky blues all with a warm earthy feel.
Team Hughes has won The Paul Newbury Prize and played gigs at Raffles, The Golden Fleece, The Loft, Bunkers Hill, The Orange Tree, The Running Horse, The Town Mill, Black Market, The Nottingham Social and The Rose of England.

Emmett brown spent most of their days searching through the tunnels and caves of Nottingham until eventually they found each other in the darkness of funk. Thankfully they all came out into the light and have spent the last year spreading their soulful, melody drenched funk around the streets of the UK.
Emmett Brown consists of Chris McDonald, Kat Kyrris & Natalie Duncan on Vocals, Nick McDonald on Keys, Tommy Jones on Guitar, Lester Troughton on Bass and Tom Dempsey on Drums.
Their self titled debut EP will soon be available to buy and download from the Arboretum Shop. Guest artists include: Adam Farrah on Guitar, and Liam Bailey, Tim Mcdonald, Sarah Harris and Ian Beverly on Vocals.
